The author was given the name of Sea Hill Press after several unsuccessful ventures with different book packaging and print-on-demand companies. This is a nice example of a successful turn key-book packaging project. Working with the author, Sea Hill Press first developed a sales and marketing plan that the author felt was achievable. Once completed, budgets could then be established and the project began. Sea Hill Press staff performed editorial, design, and book layout. We then completed the job by managing it through international printing and establishing the distribution and warehousing logistics for the author.

This beautiful outdoor recreation area in northern Maine has long been noted for its picturesque towns and beautiful natural scenery. Aroostook County is a sports lover’s paradise in all seasons, with an abundance of magnificent places for skiing, hiking, hunting, boating, fishing, and swimming.

President Theodore Roosevelt discovered Island Falls in 1878 and enjoyed many visits to the hunting camp of his lifelong friend, William Sewall. The woodland areas of Aroostook County were preserved through the efforts of Teddy Roosevelt and Maine’s Governor Llewellyn Powers. Travel back through history to discover the perpetual tranquility of the pond that everyone holds so dear. The history and beauty of Pleasant Pond is conveyed through the words of Sandra Newman and the stories contributed by other “pond people” who live or vacation at this magical place. This enchanting book chronicles the lives of families who settled in Maine’s northernmost county, Aroostook, and set up homes around one of the area’s most treasured bodies of water,

About the Author

Sandy Newman grew up in Island Falls, Maine, riding the sing-song bus with bus driver Leo Bishop in command, and taking swimming lessons until age 12, the same year that the swimming hole closed and her parents purchased a cottage on Roosevelt Road, Pleasant Pond, Island Falls, Maine. This move happily landed her a place amongst the “pond kids,” those kids rarely seen out of swimsuits except for sleep and an occasional trip to town. Surviving on macaroni salads, forever sunshine, and water-skiing—what better childhood could a pond kid ask for? Sandy now works as a tour director, fitness specialist for active older adults, and Certified Rocky Mountain Ski Instructor, who loves to teach children to ski. She is also now an author—a drastic change from a 20-year career in the fashion industry as both a professor of Fashion Art and Design in Boston, Massachusetts, and the owner of her Couture Bridal Shop.
