Some glow with soft pulses of color. Another flashes like a lightning storm. Others simply emanate beautiful, shimmering light. British artist Bruce Munro’s imaginative and innovative installations create a captivating evening experience for visitors to his “Light” exhibitions around the world.

This book illustrates the artist and designer’s career from his first ephemeral, outdoor “Field of Light” in Long Knoll Field, Wiltshire, to the the artist’s exhibitions at Eden Project, V&A, Holbourne Museum, Salisbury Cathedral, and Waddesdon Manor, and includes his most recent U.S. exhibitions at Cheekwood Botanical Garden, Nashville, Tennessee; Franklin Park Conservatory, Columbus, Ohio; The Hermitage Museum and Gardens, Norfolk, Virginia; and Atlanta Botanical Gardens, Atlanta, Georgia, spring 2015.

This book includes an essay by award-winning art critic and art historian Dr. Richard Cork, who offers insight into Munro, his work, and his life history.

About The Author

Bruce Munro is best known for immersive large-scale mixed-media installations based on his interest in the medium of light. Recording ideas and images in sketchbooks has been his practice for over 30 years; by this means, he has captured his responses to stimuli such as music, literature, science, and the world around him for reference, reflection, and subject matter. This tendency has been combined with a liking for components and an inventive urge for reuse, coupled with career training in manufacture of light. As a result, Munro produces both monumental temporary experiential artworks as well as intimate story-pieces.
